The aim of the Agri-EDIH project is to support the digital transformation of farmers and to provide methodological and professional training for agricultural extension agents. In the programme, we will help to draw up a digitalisation development plan for the farm based on a preliminary survey and with the involvement of consultants. Participants can prepare it on the spot.
The two-hour event in the afternoon programme of the Precision Farming Conference was opened by Dr. István Balla, Managing Director of GAK Nonprofit Ltd. and Associate Professor at MATE, followed by Péter Miklós Varga, Senior Expert at Cibus Hungaricus, who summarised the structure of the AEDIH project.
The programme was continued by experts from the Agricultural EEDIH, with the participation of Dr. Krisztina Tóth, Associate Professor, Head of the Adult Education Centre, and Zoltán Szenek, precision agriculture consultant.
Szilárd Kuzsmiczki, a farmer from Fejér county, presented the issues and topics of the Roadmap, outlining the main steps of his professional career.
In a room full of mostly farmers, a lively dialogue took place, with many questions about practical implementation being asked and answered by AEDIH experts.
There was discussion on the definition of the target group for the programme, the managers of small and medium farms, data collection, processing and decision-making, and the links between data management, soil testing and yield measurement.
Dr. Krisztina Tóth stressed the need to look for active farmers, which includes finding role models who can spread digitalisation at regional level on the basis of trust and experience.
To achieve this, we need farmers who are willing to develop and who need to be introduced to digitalisation technologies by the advisors in their own farms.
Learning is part of the process and is supported by a number of Digital Agricultural Academy learning materials. We need to be committed to progress because that is the only way to move forward and remain competitive," he said.
Participants will later be given the opportunity to enrol in the EDIH Digitalisation Development Programme for Agriculture, so they can use the programme's services free of charge. Another benefit is that those who listen and follow the steps of the exercises can come up with a concept by the end of the workshop, and find out why, what and how to do in their own business to reach the next level of digitalisation. As a result of joint thinking, you can identify how digital solutions can support the achievement of your business goals.
