New EU-wide survey from CyberSec4OT project now live!
The CyberSec4OT project, funded under the Digital Europe Programme with the participation of partners from multiple EDIHs and universities across Europe launched a major new survey to support cybersecurity capacity building in industrial environment. The initiative is coordinated by Sabancı Üniversitesi, a leading university in Türkiye and brings together a diverse consortium of cybersecurity experts, research institutions, and innovation enablers from the Baltic Sea region in the north through the Black Sea region in the east and the Mediterranean in the south.
Among these are several key members and coordinators of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs), who play an active role in connecting the project to the real-world needs of SMEs, public institutions, and the digital workforce.
EDIHs: Core Partners in Translating Insights into Impact
While the project is led by a Turkish academic institution, EDIHs partners across Bulgaria, Spain, and Greece serve as instrumental partners, contributing with their regional know-how, stakeholder reach, and SME engagement strategies. These include:
- Digital Innovation Hub Trakia (Bulgaria), coordinating Cyber4AllSTAR EDIH – leading the project’s work on stakeholder engagement and digital ecosystem involvement.
🔗 Cyber4AllSTAR EDIH profile - National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), member of SmartAttica EDIH – contributing technical leadership and deep knowledge of smart production systems.
🔗 SmartAttica EDIH profile - Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, coordinating AIR4S EDIH – applying AI and cybersecurity frameworks to support the development of modular training tools.

Together, these hubs bring the added value of practical field experience, access to regional industrial networks, and alignment with the broader EU digital skills agenda.
What’s the Survey About?
The newly launched survey — open until May 31, 2025 — aims to assess:
- Skills gaps in operational technology (OT) cybersecurity
- Threat awareness and vulnerability exposure in industrial systems
- Use cases to inform training modules and policy design

Who Should Participate?
- SMEs and startups in manufacturing and industrial services
- Cybersecurity officers and OT engineers
- Public sector bodies working with digital/industrial infrastructure
- Training and workforce development organisations
EDIHs as Strategic Enablers
Through their ongoing work in skills development, digital transformation support, and multi-level stakeholder engagement, EDIHs are uniquely positioned to:
- Co-host regional OT cybersecurity workshops
- Act as local multipliers for CyberSec4OT resources
- Support SME participation and feedback collection
- Help localise training content for maximum uptake
“CyberSec4OT is a great example of how the EDIH community can go beyond service delivery — by co-creating relevant tools and engaging industry in long-term capacity building,” said Denis Petkov, Academic Partnerships Manager at the Digital Innovation Hub Trakia, during a presentation of the project at the EDIH Days in 'Sofia Tech Park' on January 30th 2025.
Part of the Three Seas EDIH Corridor Vision
The CyberSec4OT project supports the collaborative goals of the Three Seas EDIH Corridor, by strengthening cybersecurity capacity and knowledge exchange across Central and Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean. With EDIH partners from Spain, Greece, and Bulgaria, and deployment in countries like Türkiye, Norway and Estonia, the project stands as a model for transnational innovation cooperation.
