Katja Mohar Bastar


Katja Mohar Bastar has been the Director of Digital Innovation Hub Slovenia (DIH Slovenia) since March 2020. Under her leadership, DIH Slovenia has grown into a fully operational entity, achieving national and international recognition among digital innovation hubs. DIH Slovenia serves as a one-stop shop for SME digitalization, supporting businesses through digital vouchers, raising awareness on digital transformation, and guiding SMEs toward sustainable, social, and technology-driven futures. In 2021, DIH Slovenia coordinated the Slovenian Digital Centre – Technology for the People, showcasing Slovenia's best digital practices during the country's EU Presidency. During this time, 144 events were organized, and 146 innovative practices were presented.

Katja has been an active member of the National Digital Coalition since 2017, where she co-chairs the strategic working group for regulatory and institutional issues. She has also contributed to the Association for Informatics and Telecommunications at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia from 2016 - 2021, supporting the electronic communications sector.

Prior to 2016, Katja worked in telecoms regulation for 15 years, serving as the Head of the Telecommunications Department at the national regulatory authority and later as Head of Regulatory Affairs at Telekom Slovenia, focusing on spectrum auctions, universal service, and operational regulatory matters.

She holds a Master’s degree in economics and is currently pursuing a PhD in Information Systems at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, University of Maribor.
