Technology adoption was one of the two most-voted challenges (for the EDIH in the agri-food sector) in the poll carried out during the KoM of this Working Group (WG). Furthermore, “Build network, share experiences and best practices, create opportunities” was also identified as one expectation/benefit of participating in this WG.
As a response to the interest shown, thematic sessions focused on a diverse range of technologies with an impact on the agri-food sector are proposed to be organized.
Particularly, this first thematic session would be dedicated to the Internet of Things (IoT). It can be recognised that making efforts to capture information and data in the agri-food sector is a strategic and preliminary step in the process of digitisation of SMEs, a purpose for which IoT can play a decisive role.
Considering its relevance, this session is aimed at showcasing and discussing about different approaches on IoT adoption in the agri-food sector from a practical point of view. After an intervention with an overview, different use cases would be addressed to show their value proposition and the agri-food ‘challenge’ tackled, objectives/methodology and lessons learned from the experience.
