Description

The Digital Innovation Hub of Western Macedonia SYNERGiNN EDIH (SYNergy – enERGy – iNNovation) is designed to offer its services across Greece, supporting businesses and public organisations in their digital and green transformation. While building on the expertise and experience developed in the region of Western Macedonia—particularly in the context of its transition from lignite-based economic activities—the hub extends its impact nationwide.

Greece is undergoing a significant transformation towards a more sustainable and diversified economy, as outlined in the National Energy and Climate Plan. Environment and Energy constitute key sectors for this transition. SYNERGiNN aims to support this shift by enabling organisations to leverage advanced digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Internet of Things and Big Data analytics. Through these technologies, SYNERGiNN promotes the transformation of existing know-how in Energy and Environment into long-term, sustainable knowledge assets. The hub focuses on application areas where its members have strong expertise, including smart grids, predictive maintenance, process optimisation, energy management services, Industry 4.0, circular economy, bioeconomy and smart city applications. SYNERGiNN provides a comprehensive portfolio of services, including “test before invest”, skills development and training, support to access finance and innovation ecosystem networking.

The hub’s headquarters are located in a 1,000 square meter facility in Kozani, owned by the University of Western Macedonia. The SYNERGiNN consortium brings together multidisciplinary competences and resources, comprising fifteen partners: one university, one research institute, two technology providers, three clusters, five industrial partners, one public regional organisation and two chambers.

Each of the badges reflects the hub’s reported activity and services already provided to SMEs, mid-caps and public sector organisations, while also showing the hub’s contribution to the network of European Digital Innovation Hubs.
