EDIH Title

Enabling Digital Transformation in Hesse

Geographical scope

Regional
SouthHesse, Hesse, Germany

Description

EDITH will enable the region of South Hesse to be amongst the smartest and most sustainable regions in Europe, acting as a strong and driving member of the EDIH universe. Although our region is prosperous, vibrant and well-connected local SMEs, small midcaps and municipalities face the risk of being left behind in the accelerating digitalisation of industry, the pandemic has increased this threat. Our region shows a relatively low number of digitally advanced SMEs and public service entities (PSEs), the majority are generally not prepared to embrace new digital solutions. Our EDITH, Enabling Digital Innovation & Technology in Hesse, consortium uses its technological expertise to improve the digital maturity of the individual entities and of the region as a whole. The consortium consists of House of Digital Transformation, the coordinator, Fraunhofer, GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung, Hessian AI, Mittelstand Digitalzentrum Darmstadt (both part of TU Darmstadt) and TechQuartier. Partners offer their expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, High Performance Computing and Advanced Digital Skills to provide sustainable solutions and hands on support to strengthen Hessian retail, logistics/mobility, construction/facility management and the public sector. Besides us as direct beneficiaries, EDITH has a strong network of affiliated partners mainly from larger industries and finance. Our services include test environments, a broad variety of training, workshops, networking formats and support to find additional public and private funding. EDITH is well connected with EEN and other European regions in order to exchange knowledge and best practices. In a smart region everything is connected to everything else and this is where EDITH comes in: EDITH’s aim is to complement smart region and smart government strategies through smart SMEs. We are confident that we can bridge the digital divide to make our region even smarter and more sustainable.
