The project’s main objective is to establish and develop Digital Innovation Hub Mechanika in town of Peshtera, South Central Region of Bulgaria, which supports SMEs, small-midcaps and public entities in digital transformation through providing services as testing before investing and trainings and consultancy, as well as through providing support to find investment and to find effective collaborations in regional innovation ecosystem. The DIH Mechanika digitalisation objectives are focused on footwear and garment production industry and the related to the shoe industry green and low-carbon technologies. Project’s objectives will be achieved through investments in robotics and 3D technologies for the establishment of digitalisation and industrial design center within the hub, through providing access and services to SMEs, small-midcaps and public entities in development of digital and low-carbon technologies for the footwear and garment industry, as well as through activities for networking and cooperation. The described project’s objectives correspond to the priorities of the call for proposals. The project as well as the programme aims at developing capacities in advance digital skills and best use of technologies for accelerating economic development. Both, the project and the programme aim at accelerating digital transformation in SMEs, small-midcaps and public organisations and both the project and the programme are focusing on development of Industry 4.0 principles through introduction of AI and digital technologies in the manufacturing process. The effect of the project implementation is the increased capacity for digital transformation and innovation activities, including increased innovation potential in the South Central planning region in the field of automation and digitalisation of the footwear and garment industry.
