Smart Attica's partner, Athens Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation of the AUEB, organised the "Athenian Agora" Awards, a startup competition that offered a chance for European startups, entrepreneurial and research teams to pitch their innovative ideas and win monetary and service awards.

The competition was divided in three categories, based on the growth stage of each team. The pitches were held on Friday, the 17th of May, exclusively on-site, at the premises of ACEin in Athens during the Athenian Nexus Summit.

Categories of Startups Participating

- Idea and/or Mockup Stage: During the Idea & Mockup Stage a team has generated their idea and is currently exploring potential markets.

- MVP Stage: During the MVP Stage, the team has (almost) finished developing their initial product and is currently working on their go-to market strategy, to receive feedback from their potential clients and start designing their pilot project.

- Proof-of-Concept Stage: During the Proof-of-Concept (PoC) Stage, the team has already developed their final product and is currently designing or implementing their pilot project with a client or organisation.

The main criteria for awarding the prize for each category are: the problem contextualization, the solution approach, the degree of innovation, the market potential, the implementation plan of the idea, the projected revenue streams, and the team members’ capabilities.
