Mazovia EDIH

The Mazovia EDIH aims to foster the Deployment and Best Use of Digital Capacity and Interoperability of the Mazowickie Voivodeship (Poland’s Mazovia macroregion) by properly combining Key Enabling Technologies (KET; e.g. advanced manufacturing technologies, micro/nanoeletronics, electronic components and systems, photonics), with Advanced Digital Technologies (ADT), namely Artificial Intelligence (AI), High Performance Computing (HPC) and Cybersecurity, thus contributing to accelerate the digital and greening transformation of the regional and national industrial sector. Mazovia ranks top first in almost all dimensions of economic activity in Poland, generating over 1/5 of the country’s GDP, leading its export activity, and gathering about half of the foreign investments. On the other hand, both innovation capacity and digitalization intensity is still ranked rather low at European level (based on the Regional Innovation ScoreBoard 2021). The Mazovia EDIH will contribute to significantly increase Mazovia’s innovation capacity by providing Community Building, Test-Before-Invest, Skills Development and Business Support services, focused on exploring the KET and ADT potential to enable highly competitive, wide-impact and digitally-enhanced innovations at product, process and service level. Mazovia EDIH is suited to support both traditional businesses and activities targeting economic sectors considered most attractive for investors (such as electronics or medtech) favoured by Mazovia’s strong investment and R&D dynamics, based on the transversal application potential of both KET and ADT, and thus a wide impact at both regional and national scale is expected. An intense strategic work to build the Mazovia EDIH brand within and outside Mazovia will be followed. The specific focus on its digital transformation through the integrated KET-ADT added-value claimed will be the main and distinguished flagship of the Mazovia EDIH from other concurrent initiatives.
