Description
Several EDIH expressed interest to work together and share knowledge and experiences on the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Public Administrations.
Objectives
- Discussing the challenges and seize the opportunities that AI brings to advance the digital transformation of public administrations in the EU.
- Facilitate the connection to other EU initiatives on AI in the public sector (e.g. AI Test and Experimentation Facilities for smart cities, GovTech platform and pilots, AI in the public sector database of use cases, AI-on-demand platform, sandboxing, Big Public Buyers’ Community of Practice focusing on AI procurement, AI registries as well as other European projects and studies, etc.).
- Jointly identify EU funding opportunities and access to relevant skills/capacity building programmes.
- Seek to identify standards, technical specifications, algorithms as well as appropriate data, so as to foster interoperability and re-usability of AI-enabled solutions in the public sector.
- Help the take-up of human-centric, ethical AI in the public sector and contribute to the creation of a European GovTech market.

Previous meetings and activities
The twelfth WG meeting took place in person, in the form of a Workshop, prior to the EDIH Network Annual Summit in Brussels, on 26/11/2024.
The eleventh online meeting, has focused on the possible synergies between the Big Data Test Infrastructure and EDIHs. It took place on 18/10/2024.
The tenth online meeting, Webinar in collaboration with the Tourism WG, took place on 11/07/2024.
The nineth online meeting took place on the 14/06/2024
The eighth online meeting took place on the 5/03/2024
The seventh online meeting took place on the 15/12/2023
The sixth online meeting took place on the 27/10/2023
The fifth online meeting took place on the 8/09/2023
The fourth online meeting took place on the 30/06/2023
The third meeting was held in-person on 1/06/2023 at the EDIH Summit in Brussels.
The second online meeting was held on 16/05/2023.
The first online meeting of this group was held on 28/04/2023.

Further information
The European Commission will facilitate the knowledge sharing by providing an online platform (Joinup - https://joinup.ec.europa.eu/) and invite all EDIHs to share their experiences, recommendations and concerns on the subject matter.
The Digital Transformation Accelerator will provide technical and organizational support to the working group as needed.
