Description

Train the Trainer course on 13 June 2023 (09:00-11:00 CET) that will present the main principles of open data processes and the EU Directive on open data (EU 2019/1024), with an emphasis on the roadmap for the development of competencies in the management of high value datasets.

Open data initiatives are essential drivers of transparency in public administrations, and in doing so, they represent a basic building block for enabling the EU's free market for digital data and services. For trainers, this course presents a series of practical highlights on how to manage data and build a greater understanding of open datasets in local communities. The importance of data context is also emphasised as one of the key elements of dataset management.

Learning outcomes and outline of the course:

  • Understanding the importance of data sharing and associated obstacles.
  • Improved knowledge of the EU Open Data directive, its goals, high-value datasets, dataset context.
  • Improved knowledge about application programming interface (API) and its importance for seamless data sharing processes.
  • Information about data portals (EU and Slovenian data portals).
  • Learning about data and meta-data standardization through OASC MIMs model.
