Description

Objectives

The goal of the Thematic Working Group (TWG) is to promote cybersecurity as the precondition and basis for a successful digitalisation, support advancements in boosting cybersecurity postures, and support local cybersecurity ecosystems. Given the key position of SMEs on the European digital economy, the focus of the TWG will be on supporting their secure digital transformation.

The core objectives of this TWG are:

  • Drafting a common cybersecurity maturity assessment method to support the Digital Maturity Assessment;
  • Define and implement best practices to support and incentivize the implementation of cybersecurity measures and controls;
  • Collaborate on common strategies to facilitate compliance with the ever-evolving cybersecurity regulatory landscape;
  • Exchanging best practices to address commonly defined challenges: skill gaps, resource shortages;
  • Meeting SME expectations by fostering cross-border services and contributing to redirecting SMEs between the EDIH Network.

In addition, this TWG will benefit EDIHs by:

  • Engaging EDIHs in a formal community to facilitate international collaboration through a designated platform (e.g. Signal);
  • Mapping the different services provided by EDIHs on cybersecurity according to a common service catalogue;
  • Providing peer-to-peer and external webinars, workshops, and training targeted at increasing EDIHs service quality and offering.
  • Fostering knowledge and best-practice exchange among EDIHs;
  • Integrating EDIHs in the broader cybersecurity ecosystem, promoting their services and engaging them with SMEs, European institutions, national administrations, and regional authorities.

Chair and Moderator of the TWG

A representative of the EDIH in the field of cybersecurity was elected to chair the TWG for one year, namely Marcos Alvarez Diaz from EDIH Datalife. He will ensure that the activities are aligned with the objectives of the EDIH. Marcos Alvarez Diaz will be assisted by a permanent moderator/animator. This is Francisco Andrade e Silva, a representative of the ECSO. Together, they form the leadership of the TWG and share responsibility for animating the group and prioritising work in consultation with the other members of the TWG.

The European Cybersecurity Organisation (ECSO) is an independent, cross-sectoral, and non-profit organisation for cybersecurity that gathers and represents European public and private cybersecurity stakeholders from across Europe. ECSO contributes to European Digital Sovereignty & Strategic Autonomy and strengthening Europe's cyber-resilience.
