In its bid to drive digital innovation across Europe, the European Commission recently hosted a training session under the title ‘Introducing the EDIH Network’. The online event, held on 24 October, provided an exclusive glimpse into the EDIH Network’s cutting-edge initiatives fostering digital advancements.

The session was organised by CONNECT University, the flagship knowledge-sharing initiative by the European Commission's Directorate General on Communication Networks, Content and Technologies (DG Connect). It serves a platform dedicated to educating both EU staff and the broader public on the latest digital trends and challenges intricately intertwined with relevant EU policies.

Featuring a lineup of distinguished speakers, the event examined the tangible impact that the Network’s hubs have had on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), showcasing their role in driving digital transformations.

Malgorzata Nikowska, Head of Unit A4 at DG CONNECT, elucidated the Network’s mission and structure, while Lynn Rosa Andre, representing Luxembourg Digital Innovation Hub, outlined effective strategies for industry outreach. Erwin van Eijden and Jurjen Helmus from EDIH Digital Hub Noordwest delved into the realm of AI and Data, offering real-life case studies from their hub. Complementing these discussions, Barbora Kudzmanaitė and Rūta Gabalina introduced the Smart Industrial Remoting Study, a pioneering pilot project that explores the realm of remote work in non-digitalised industries.

These presentations offered a comprehensive exploration of the EDIH Network’s various facets and potential, illuminating its many-sided influence on digital innovation across Europe.
