Description

EDIH Rheinland is located in the Rhineland in Germany - a metropolitan area along the middle and lower rhine including 10 independent cities and 13 districts, with the city of Aachen and its university and partners as a center point for the EDIH’s activities. The EDIH Rheinland consortium consists of 14 entities (RWTH Aachen University chairs, research institutes and non-profit associations as well as public administrations), which have the vision to advance the digital development and economic strengthening of their region by enabling the usage of research-relevant and future-oriented competencies and technologies. The goal of the EDIH Rheinland is to provide businesses and public administrations with access to digitalization solutions with a focus on Digital Skills, High Performance Computing (HPC) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). As the Rhineland area is home to many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), there is a special focus on these companies in order to strengthen the local economy. In addition, the geographic location in the tripoint of Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands offers numerous opportunities for networking and cooperation beyond the national borders.
The consortium partners of RWTH Aachen University, FIR e. V. at RWTH Aachen University, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft e. V., digitalHUB Aachen e. V., RWTH Innovation GmbH, REGINA e. V. and the City of Aachen are responsible for the content and implementation of the services. All partners share expertise in research and implementation in their respective fields of Digital Skills, HPC and AI. The partners provide their infrastructure and access to their network of regional, national and European initiatives and projects, e.g. the Cluster of Excellence Internet of Production at the regional level, the Mittelstand Digital Zentrum Rheinland at state level and the Digital Innovation Hub TETRAMAX at a trans-European level.
