Vassilis Tsanidis is a lawyer, Senior Innovation Procurement Advisor at the European Innovation Council (EIC)/Business Acceleration Services sector (BAS), European Commission (EC). He is responsible for the EIC BAS Innovation Procurement Program that is supporting the uptake by public and private buyers in Europe and worldwide of breakthrough solutions developed by EIC innovators.
Vassilis has more than 10 years working experience in the European Commission in matters related to Innovation Procurement. He worked for many years in the past as Policy Officer in DG CNECT/EC dealing with the Innovation Procurement dossier. In this capacity he designed and implemented several policies, programs and initiatives that aimed at supporting and mainstreaming the commercialization of innovative solutions through Innovation Procurement at European and EU Member States (at national and regional) levels.
Due to his specialization in Innovation Procurement, Vassilis worked also in the past as TAIEX expert and trainer (European Institute for Public Administration) in this field. He also designed a training program for Greek public officers on Innovation Procurement that was certified by the Greek National Civil Servants Training Authority.
He has also published several academic papers on legal matters including scientific articles on Innovation Procurement.
Before joining the European Commission, Vassilis worked in many Greek Governmental and European Authorities. He worked (among others) as Legal Advisor in the Cabinet of the Minister of Macedonia and Thrace/Greece and as EU funds and Procurement Expert in the Region of Central Macedonia/Greece. He worked also as Technical Expert in an Interreg Managing Authority dealing with the cross-border and inter-regional collaboration in Europe.
Vassilis holds a PhD and a Master’s Degree in European Business Law and a Bachelor in laws. He is also holder of a Bachelor and a Master’s Degree in the field of Social Sciences.
