Description
Objectives
Over the past 10-15 years, various initiatives have attempted to drive SMEs’ digitalisation by pushing technology. However, it is evident that these approaches have not worked. Therefore, we have decided to try a technology pull approach, where we directly address the digital challenges faced by SMEs and leverage all available technology to help resolve those challenges.
The main challenges we address are the lack of a skilled workforce, which makes it necessary to streamline and digitalise processes in admin and production, as well as the shift from product to service. Based on our analysis, SMEs are good at adopting technology and incremental innovation but need support when it comes to monetising on technology and initiating, preparing, and driving disruptive business ideas by using already available digital solutions.
The objectives of the working group include:
- sharing knowledge and experience related to Digital Business Models;
- collaboratively developing tools to overcome the innovation deadlock;
- fostering innovation and sustainability of SMEs, placing them at the heart of entrepreneurial action, and ultimately driving the wellbeing and development of our societies.
