Description
Digital Hub Northwest Netherlands (DHNWN) is the European Digital Innovation Hub for North Holland, Utrecht, and Flevoland, supporting SMEs and PSOs in accelerating their digital transformation, with a focus on the sectors Smart Industry, Smart Food, Smart Health, and Creative Industries. Building on a fully operational infrastructure established during DHNWN 1.0, the hub now enters a strategic consolidation period focused on active outreach, regional integration, and alignment with European digital policy objectives.
DHNWN 2.0 tackles critical challenges in digital adoption, including limited internal expertise, fragmented support ecosystems, and barriers to accessing finance. It applies a structured funnel: Inform, Identify, Implement, guiding organisations from awareness to action. This includes awareness-raising, DMAs, and tailored services like test-before-invest experimentation, modular skills development, and access-to-finance coaching, coordinated by trained business developers embedded in regional networks.
The hub is coordinated by ROM Utrecht Region and delivered in partnership with Universities of Applied Sciences: Amsterdam, Utrecht and Windesheim, development agencies: ROM Utrecht Region, Horizon Flevoland and Noord-Holland Noord, Fieldlabs: 3D Makers Zone and Bouwlab R&Do, and employers' organizations with strong regional SME connections: FME and Koninklijke Metaalunie.
Together, they offer a regionally anchored yet internationally connected network, leveraging cross-border partnerships and referrals through existing MoUs with fellow EDIHs. By 2029, DHNWN 2.0 aims to Inform 1,500+ organisations, conduct 250+ DMAs in the Identify phase, and support 200+ SMEs
with tailored implementation activities. It will track improvements in digital maturity and promotes access to European infrastructures, including the AI-on-Demand platform and TEFs.
Each of the badges reflects the hub’s reported activity and services already provided to SMEs, mid-caps and public sector organisations, while also showing the hub’s contribution to the network of European Digital Innovation Hubs.
