European Digital Innovation Hubs Network

Construction

Objectives

Members of the TWG

The Thematic Working Group on Construction brings together a dynamic network of eight EDIHs: WallonIA (BE), DIHCUBE (IT), DIGITALbuilt (PT), EDIH Südwestfalen (DE), Kielce Technology Park (PL), EDICS – European Digital Innovation Hub in the Construction Sector (BG), FAIR (FI), and EDIH-EBE (BE). With the launch of the second round of EDIHs, this ecosystem is expected to further evolve and expand, as current members have expressed their willingness to onboard new EDIHs and reinforce the network’s collaborative dimension.

Ambition of the TWG

These EDIHs have committed to collaborating and creating added value for companies by sharing experience, know-how, tools, and good practices at European level. The Working Group aims to provide companies with tailored support, improve their understanding of how digital technologies can enhance business performance, showcase concrete digital applications and services, facilitate access to regional, national, and European funding opportunities, and strengthen their digital maturity.

In addition, the members leverage their connections with existing networks and projects to further extend the reach, visibility, and impact of the TWG.

As a dynamic and evolving group, the TWG remains flexible, open to new collaboration opportunities, and committed to an inclusive approach in the co-definition of its activities.

Meetings

Latest and foreseen activities

Over the past three years, the TWG has progressively strengthened and intensified its collaboration. Initially focused on the exchange of experiences, guidance, and practical advice, the Working Group gradually evolved towards the co-creation of concrete collaboration opportunities, following an incremental and trust-based collaboration dynamic.

In summary, the main achievements of the TWG Construction include:

  • More than 7 joint participations and presentations at international events (ECTP Conference, B4P Stakeholder Forum, Smart City World Expo Congress, SAIE, etc.)
  • More than 15 actions related to the search for international experts (e.g. project reviewers) and project partners for European proposals
  • More than 10 connections established with European construction initiatives and networks (ECTP, B4PIC, EU Peers, etc.)
  • Identification and sharing of EU funding opportunities, leading to the submission of 7 proposals involving TWG members and related companies
  • Development of a Digital Maturity Assessment (DMA) tool tailored to the specific digital needs of the construction sector
  • A final event co-organised with the ECTP (European Construction and Sustainable Built Technology Platform), which contributed to the emergence of three new consortia currently preparing EU proposals for submission by the end of 2026

A report published in early 2026 presents the TWG, its activities, and its key achievements during the first round of the EDIH programme (see thematic WG area; login required).
